Hi, I am Rijaz! I am based in Dubai where I work at a multi-national logistics service provider.
I love coding (iOS apps, web apps) as a hobby and to automate stuff at work.
What I Love Doing…
Did I say I love coding? Well… I love coding!!!!! 🙂
Over the years, and especially since 2018, I have learned quite a few programming languages. Each of them for different reasons and purposes.
- Swift for iOS app development.
- Angular for the front-end of a web app
- NodeJS for the back-end of a web app
- VBA for automating Excel spreadsheet work
- Python for some basic automation work. And also in preparation for learning data science.
I also love watching movies and TV shows. You can follow me on Letterboxd and see what movies I have watched and how I have rated them.
I am also a part of my company’s cricket team. We participate in various tournaments across UAE and you can view my exploits on my CricHeroes profile.
Education
I earned my Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems from Manipal University, Dubai Campus, in 2006.
Later on, I went on to do my MBA in Operations from S P Jain School of Global Management, Dubai.
Work
Manager – WMS Systems
I lead a strong team of 4 people. We do reports development (using Birt and Crystal Reports), integration of internal applications (using Boomi Atomsphere) and integration with external client systems (who use different ERPs such as SAP, Oracle, and JDE).
We also work very closely with the warehouse operations team in suggesting and implementing various WMS solutions. Sometimes, we come up with some crazy and innovative solutions! And that is just super fun… 🙂
The most fun part of my job though is the development of applications to automate work. I built the WMS Plus web app in the summer of 2019 for a specific task that was taking up my team’s time. I continue to enhance the application for other tasks.
Also, in early 2019, I was asked to develop a web app for a specific client requirement. “A Live Operational KPI Dashboard”. I am extremely proud of how I was able to build the dashboard within a month. The whole learning experience was exciting!!
